AfD (French Development Agency) has active participation in infrastructure development across Africa. In Uganda, the Agency has participated in funding huge water treatment and transimission projects as well as urban developments under NWSC and KCCA. They wish to extend their services in the housing sector wherein a feasibility study of the sector has been completed.
Arising from the findings of the feasibility study, the Agency is geared towards implementation and hereby advertises for consultancy firms (domestic or international) to participate in the bid for the next level of which is the identified beneficiary.
AFD launched in 2021 a facility dedicated to affordable and sustainable housing – the Sustainable Housing Initiative (SHI). This world-wide facility aims to support the implementation of affordable and sustainable housing policies through technical assistance for public entities in charge of housing at the national and local levels, as a mean to reaching SDGs.
AFD is already supporting Uganda housing authorities through the SHI facility on affordable housing. An affordable housing market study and policy review and recommendations are being implemented and will terminate at the end of the year. The expected service is to be undertaken in strong articulation with this existing study. The main objective is to support the National Housing & Construction Company NHCC in its will to successfully implement its mandate as the nation’s main affordable and sustainable housing operator.
This is to inform you about the launch of the tendering process for a study: “Technical assistance to the structuring of the Ugandan public company NHCC as an affordable and sustainable housing operator.”
